Bergen作为挪威第二大城市，拥有约220，000名居民，紧靠挪威的西海岸。BERGEN大学是欧洲一所坐落在市中心的中型学校, 现有学生17，000名，教职员工超过2500名。它不仅是一所教育学院也是一所研究学院，由7个教育部门，90多个部门和中心。在1998到1999年大约有1300多名注册学生。2000年约有5500多名外国学生在Bergen学习。
Bergen是一座学生的城市。每一学年各大学注册的学生的总数可以达到总人口的10%。你不仅可以住在现代的都市中生活而且也可以在群山环抱中的郊区度假.
